MALACCA: Despite the rumbles of criticism, Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam is following through on his plans to bring the Eye on Malaysia to the state.
Under the plan, the Eye on Malaysia, which was unveiled at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur early last year in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2007, will be relocated here later this year.
Mohd Ali said the Ferris wheel, which comprises 42 gondolas, would operate at its new base in Bandar Hilir in October, in time for the Deepavali celebrations.
"So far, we have invested RM20 million in the Eye on Malaysia project," said Mohd Ali, who believed the project could start generating profits in five years' time.
